About Me
Hello! I'm Rianna Bailey, a licensed clinical social worker and have been providing psychotherapy services since 2017. I am a two-time alum of UW-Madison; I have a bachelor's degree in Afro-American Studies, and a master's degree in Social Work. I entered the social work field because I want to help people, give back to society and my community, and advocate for social justice. In therapy, I utilize several different modalities but my new favorite is somatic practices, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have had a rewarding career and enjoy what I do!

A Bit More About Me
Therapy is a vulnerable process and sometimes it's helpful to have a sense of who your provider is as a person. I'm open to questions , so please don't hesitate to ask! Please know that I am LGBTQ+ affirming, gender affirming, and social justice orientated provider. I love animals, have 3 pets, and am a vegetarian. I believe we have so much to learn from nature and other creatures. I spend my time with my family, outside hiking or gardening, training my new pup, cooking, listening to audiobooks, bird watching, doing jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, napping, drinking tea, and doing yoga. Feedback is really important to me and I hope you will feel comfortable sharing your experience with me.
About the Name Purple Aster
I decided to name my private practice Purple Aster Counseling & Wellness LLC because of the book, The Color Purple by Alice Walker. For me, the book is about transformation, discovery, self-love, and healing. As this process unfolds, the color purple in nature becomes more and more apparent. This attunement, mindfulness, and wisdom really spoke to me and I liked how therapy is a reflection of this.
